Meet The Life Healing Center Staff

Shari Hughes Scott, Ph.D., PMHNP-BC, LPCC (LPC-S), LMFT (LMFT-S)

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Dr. Scott has been in healthcare for more than four decades, earning a doctorate degree in marriage and family therapy and board certification as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. She has an extensive

history of working across the behavioral health continuum of care and has also worked in emergency rooms and for the Consult Liaison Service for Children’s Health/Children’s Medical Center and Parkland Memorial Health System, the largest trauma I adult and pediatric hospitals in Dallas. While at these institutions, Dr. Scott was recognized as a clinical expert on working with medically fragile and high-risk behavioral populations and their families. In her work at Parkland, Dr. Scott was responsible for providing psychiatric evaluations, treatment, consultations, and medical management for psychiatric/behavioral health patients. This facility saw around 1,500 behavioral health patients a month.

At the other end of the continuum, Dr. Scott has also worked in private practice, specializing in families, couples, children, and adolescents, with a special interest in eating disorders, father/daughter relationships, trauma, substance use disorders, medical/psychiatric disorders, and attachment/relationship issues.

As service work has always been an important part of Dr. Scott’s personal and professional development, she currently volunteers her time at the Horse Shelter, where she and the other volunteers do miraculous work with abused and neglected horses. She has also begun training her puppy, Bodhi, at the Assistance Dogs of the West, with the goal of making him her co-therapist at Life Healing Center.
